Nine Steps And Eight Months Later, A Sunset Park Bar Got Its Curb

On Fifth Avenue in Sunset Park, in a stretch of Brooklyn where the bakeries open before six and the bodegas never really close, there is a small bar at 4022 called Judy's. Coffee in the morning, beer and wine at night. Sam Goetz runs it. In the spring of 2024, when the city reopened its roadway dining program, he filed for permission to put tables in the parking lane directly outside his own front door. The approval landed eight months later.
