In a city where we argue about most everything, the hot dog is a settled matter. That yellow and blue Sabrett umbrella sits at the top of our rankings. It is not artisanal. It is not reinvented. It is simple and perfect.
Mustard and sauerkraut is the standard. That’s the baseline. The sharp mustard cuts the fat, the kraut brings acid, and suddenly you understand why this formula is what it is. Relish is fine. Ketchup is for children and tourists and it’s okay if you’re one of those. Just own it.

If you want something elevated, get fucked. All the fanciest foods and toppings can be saved for other shapes of meat. Don’t deep fry shit or get creative with the toppings. Your everyday champion is the Sabrett cart.
