THE MONEY WENT TO THE WATERFRONT. THE CORRIDOR ABOVE IT WENT DARK.
The Dallas BBQ at the foot of West Fordham Road is closed. It was the chain's first Bronx location, open more than twenty years by the company's own count, on the Cedar Avenue corner that held Jimmy's Bronx Cafe before it. Fifty-five million landed downhill.

THE $28 LUNCH IS NOT WHY YOU CAN'T AFFORD NEW YORK CITY
The advice is always meal prep. Cereal and bakery prices in the New York metro rose 5.0 percent over the year through April. Restaurant prices rose 3.4. The aisle you were told to retreat to moved faster than the room you were told to leave.

SYBIL'S IS FIFTY. BREAKFAST STILL COSTS $1.25
Local Law 79 lifted the legal ceiling on delivery commissions from 23 percent to 43. Forty-three percent of a $1.25 pastry is 54 cents. The counter price at 132-17 Liberty Avenue survives because nobody is taking that cut at the door.

Every roadway cafe needs its own public hearing before it opens. That sits in the City Charter next to revocable consent, which is why the Council cannot repeal it alone. It goes to voters in November instead.

The recall covered 27 states and named no restaurants, so kitchens guessed instead
Iceberg from central Mexico, pulled July 17. The CDC says it covers lettuce served in restaurants. The notice carried brand abbreviations and use-by dates. No retailer names. No restaurant names.

THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT LICENCE QUEUE
AUTHORIZED IS NOT ISSUED
On July 1 a five-year clock started: 2,200 supervisory licence applications a year through 2031, forced through over a mayoral veto in January. On Roosevelt Avenue the carts working in June are the carts working now. Same paper. None.
